Upcom Technologies Inc., a San Jose, CA based developer and manufacturer of ground-based equipment for satellite telecommunications, announced today their addition of Prof. Dr.  Silvio Ernesto Barbin as a Senior Member to the company’s Advisory Board.  
Prof. Barbin is a scientist and entrepreneur in the area of Microwave technologies applied to satellite and terrestrial telecommunications.
Professor Barbin holds joint appointments as Research Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of New Mexico, as well as Professor at University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Dr. Barbin holds senior position at the SBMO- Brazilian Society of Microwave and Optoelectronics Engineering, as Regional Chapter Coordinator at the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society,  
Prof. Barbin is a seasoned scientist and entrepreneur in the area of Microwave technologies applied to satellite and terrestrial telecommunications
His educational background includes Electrical Engineering, MSc and PhD in Electrical Engineering by University of Sao Paulo – USP in Brazil, as well as post-doctorate courses at the University of New Mexico. Before focusing on the academic career, Prof. Barbin had an extensive and successful professional path leading Research and Development projects of microwave devices and equipment for satellite & terrestrial telecommunications, including SSPAs and specialized antennas, in Brazil and Germany.
